I answered this last week and it was ignored

IF ND joins a conference it will still have a place in big time college football, it just loses a little pageantry and history - "national" recruiting is very over rated, with today's technology no quality player is missed - some are mis-evaluated - particularly with the huge sums of money involved for recruiting "analysts".

If ND takes any action that increases the haves versus the have nots, and that assists - in any way - in the downfall of the ACC - then some ACC teams will very likely not even be at the table.

So the difference between ACC wanting an independent ND might be a matter of survival for the conference and even being in D1 football at all for some of their teams.

ND wanting their independence has nothing to do with its "survival" in college football - just the extras it "wants"

I understand fighting for what you want, nothing inherently "wrong" with that - just don't equate it with another team/conference fighting for survival.

and saying ND doesn't "survive" if its self identified fundamental identity/brand is relinquished is just semantics - they'll still be playing big time college football.
